2020 Spring U7/U8 Academy

2020 Spring Season 

U7/U8 Academy  

The U7/U8 Academy participants will begin practice the week of March 9th. Their first game of the season will be played Saturday, March 21. Please note, there will be no practice during spring break (the week of March 23rd) and no game on March 28th.

The season runs 8 weeks long and will have a total of 7 games with the final game played on May 9, 2020.

GAME SCHEDULE for Youth League:
Location: Camels Back Park
Time:1pm-2pm

March 9th - March 13th: First week of practice 

Sat, Mar 21 - Game 1 
Spring Break – No practice or game during Spring Break week 
Sat, Apr 04 - Game 2
Sat, Apr 11 - Game 3
Sat, Apr 18 - Game 4
Sat, Apr 25 – Game 5
Sat, May 02 - Game 6
Sat, May 09 - Game 7

The School of Soccer staff will warmup/stretch with the players for 5-10 minutes prior to kickoff. Once the warmup is completed the SoS staff will divide the players into randomized teams and send them to a field for small sided games of 4v4 or 5v5. We will do everything we can to accommodate friend requests during the team formation process each Saturday.

Practice will be held once per week at the location/day/time of your choice. The School of Soccer staff will run practices at each Academy location during the week. Outgoing and energetic parents are encouraged (but not required) to volunteer on game days to assist our staff with coaching/refereeing games. 

The primary focus for this age level is on having fun, building a technical skill foundation with the ball, and to showcase dribbling skills and techniques on game days. 

The majority of our Academy players in the U7/U8 range are content with the Youth League (one 75 minute mid-week practice and one 60 minute Saturday game each weekend), but for certain players there's just never enough soccer to be had or mountains to climb during the week.

Players that are looking for additional opportunities to train and or to be challenged against tougher opponents for league games will be invited to participate in our Select League up at Simplot Sports Complex each Saturday. Parent volunteers are required to coach Select League games and will have the option of adding a "Team Only" practice to the weekly schedule (in addition to the School of Soccer technical training day that their players have already registered for). Select Teams are not required to train a second day during the week, but the option is available for ambitious parents and players. 

U7/U8 Academy  Practice Make Up Day Option:
If you miss your practice and would like to participate in a make-up-day then please feel free to attend the make up practice of your choice from the list of classes on our weekly Spring schedule.  

Required items for players to have 
1) Shin Guards - Required for practice and games 
2) Water Bottle - Required for practice and games 
3) Soccer Cleats - Optional but highly recommended   
4) Uniform - Optional for Youth League  Games & Required for players who want to play on a Academy Select Team
